Paul Gleason is a PhD student in the Religious Studies department at the University of Virginia. He is part of the Theology, Ethics, and Culture program, where he specializes in American religion and literature. He studies how autobiography, and in particular confession, has formed religious identity from the Great Awakening to the present day. He is also curious about the similarities between poetry and prayer. He holds a BA in English Literature from Yale University.
